During the early part of February, the President of Parliament, Drs. Gracita Arrindell, extended an invitation to all secondary students on the island for their cooperation in helping to develop the concept for St. Maarten's new Parliamentary crest.
The student's task was to create a concept drawing for the parliament's crest based on the theme: Corum Populo" meaning openly in presence of the people.
A total of 28 entries were submitted.
Out of the two designs from our graphic designer, the Presidium and Senioren convent Parliamentarians chose the crest that they believed portrayed Parliament.
